NFS/CIFS migration from Celerra to Isilon
Guys,
Please share your experiences with tools that are available for this migration and if there are any tools from EMC side like isi_vol_copy for NetApp to Isilon migration.
Heard of something like isi_vol_copy_vnx exists, true? and if yes does it work with Celerra too.

hi Rahul,
One product that quite a few organizations have found useful is StorageX, from Data Dynamics. It works on all file platforms and has API integration for VNX and Isilon to help migrate to them.

Rahul,
There are several tools at your disposal when migrating files into Isilon-OneFS. We classify them mainly as Host-Based or ON-Array.I will provide a brief list here:
Array Based:
- isi_vol_copy -- To migrate files over NDMP from OnTap to OneFS
- isi_vol_copy_vnx -- To migrate files over NDMP from VNX/Celerra (DART 5.6 and later) to OneFS (7.0.2 and later)
Host Based:
- EMCopy - Available on Powerlink for EMC Customers
- Robocopy - Recommend using latest version provided by Microsoft
In our experience, array based are generally faster depending on the workflow, however running host-based tools from multiple copy hosts is an alternate option as well.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Amol
