OneFS 7.2.0.5 and CommVault Restores

Looking for some help in regards to backing up a SMB share from Isilon

using CommVault as the backup software.

Per suggestion from CommVault, we are not using NDMP for backups.

Instead, we are using a Windows proxy server to mount the SMB share,

and backup the files through the server.  The backups appear to work

fine.

Our issue is restores.  If we restore the data to a file system that is local

to the Windows server, everything looks good.  However, if we restore

back to the Isilon through the Windows server proxy, we lose

permissions.

Anyone else doing this?  Any thoughts on why we would lose permissions

on files/folders by restoring back to the Isilon SMB share through a W

Windows proxy server?

Thanks,

Will

Hello,

Please check if permission inheritance is enabled on Isilon folder where you are doing restore as all files will inherit permissions from parent directory.

Also you can set permission on a temp directory which you want and try a restore and see if that works fine.

Thanks
