OneFS patch upgrade fails

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade our NL410 from OneFS 9.2.1.11 to 9.2.1.13. The IOCA script runs without any problems:

Current OneFS Version 9.2.1.11
Destination OneFS Version 9.2.1.13
System Partition Free Space            PASS
...
UPGRADE MAY PROCEED
Running "df -h /var" on the nodes shows a free space of about 740 MB on all nodes. But each time the upgrade fails with the following message:

# isi upgrade patches install 9.2.1.13_GA-RUP_2022-06_PSP-2315.pkg --parallel
The below patches are deprecated by this patch and will be removed automatically:
- 9.2.1.11_GA-RUP_2022-04_PSP-2126
Would you like to proceed? (yes/[no]): yes
This patch request will require nodes in the cluster to be rebooted either in succession or simultaneously, depending on the options you supplied. Both scenarios can result in lost connectivity. Would you like to proceed? (yes/[no]): yes
Failed to install patch, 711425562 bytes in /var partition are required.

After that, the /var filesystem only show 584 MB of free space on the node where the upgrade is started. It seems, that the patch has been copied to /var/patch/catalog:
# ls -l /var/patch/catalog
total 154064
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 157650189 Jun 13 10:39 0dfbe31af4d2639ae43cbce9c9fcf80b

Regards, Dirk.

Hi, is patch 9.2.1_UGA-PATCH-INFRA_2022-06_PSP-1925 installed on your cluster?

If yes, uninstall it and retry install 9.2.1.13

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for your question about updating OneFS. Try the steps in this article to see what is using the space and clear more out. https://dell.to/3IIKGCX

Hi,

thnaks for the answer, but it didn't help. I have 800 MB free space in my /var filesystem. But the upgrade always fails with the message:

Failed to install patch, 711425562 bytes in /var partition are required.

That'S what I don't understand.

The best option then is to call phone support and have them take a look.

Hi, yes, that was the reason for the failed upgrade. I opened a support request and they deinstalled the patch, ran the upgrade and installed the patch again.
