>Could not Read from file on UNC (File: \\services.isi.bos.prod.dca\lvr\lvr-sbe3\socu3019_40\Backup\synch.dat ; Error: The specified network name is no longer available. )

The specified network network name is no longer available.

We have windows 2008 r2 64 bit servers accessing an islilon NL cluster.

We keep getting these errors intermittently

>Could not Read from file on UNC (File: \\services.isi.bos.prod.dca\lvr\lvr-sbe3\socu3019_40\Backup\synch.dat ; Error: The specified network name is no longer available.
)

The Network guys say it is not a network error.  We keep getting the errors.  The isilon support guys don't have much to say.

Any ideasZ?

What type of IP allocation method is being used with for the services.isi.bos.prod.dca network pool?  Static or dynamic?  It should be static for SMB.

When you get these errors, is it after the UNC connection has been idle for a long period of time or can it happen right after you make the connection to the cluster?

How does static or dynamic impact SMB?

We got same error when trying TSM SMB backup of 3 million of files. It take 3h for the scan to complete and usaly we end up with a fail like yours: " Error: The specified network name is no longer available"

We are using Onefs 7.2 and got same error using smartconnect or static ip. For sure, the Unc connection look idle while the scanning for file to backup is perform and not finding anything to backup.

What will be the best way to diagnose this?
