14z- N411z Multiple failures

I've had a dell technician out 3 times in the last week to replace a touchpad issue with jumping cursor- they replaced the mother board also.  then the display went bad. tech came out and replaced mother board but the new MB would not power on so he put the old one back in. said it must have been a loose connection to the screen. next day, system would not power on.  came out today for the 3rd time and replaced MD, power charge connector, new adaptor and who knows what else.  working fine until the laptop just shut off. can't power on- can't do anything.  i've been asking to get this lemon replaced. send me a new 14z and i'll put my old hard drive in and be good to go.  but they won't do it.  it has to be repaired.  take care of this problem and give me a new computer. stand up for your products.  it is a 6 month old lemon. oh, and in trying to repair it the first two times, they fried the cable to the webcam also which today's tech pointed out to me.  i am stunned by dell's response.

Re: 14z- N411z Multiple failures

I had the pad replaced as well as most of the computer- my cursor still jumps so i don't use the touch pad at all.  If I do have to use the touch pad, the cursor will go up and down when i move my finger on the pad but it won't go left or right.  very frustrating- did you find out anything???

Hi rrleon1  / jhstew1

This is a concern with the drivers. Uninstall and reinstall the touchpad and quickset drivers to resolve it perfectly. Here is how we can uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

1)       Click “Start”, type “Device Manager” and press enter.

2)       In the “Device Manager” window, double click “Mouse and other pointing devices”.

3)       Right click "Dell Touchpad", click "Uninstall", and ensure to check the box “Delete driver software for this device”.

4)       Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.

5)       Click “Start”, type “Programs and Features” and press enter.

6)       In the “Programs and Features” window, right click “Quickset64”, click “Change/Uninstall”.

7)       Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.

8)       Restart the computer.

9)       Use the following link to download the Touchpad driver: http://tinyurl.com/c98eos

10)   Select Download file.

11)    Once the download is completed, run the driver file.

12)    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

13)    Restart the computer.

14)    Use the following link to download the Dell Quickset: http://tinyurl.com/dxl963h

15)    Select Download file.

16)    Once the download is completed, run the driver file.

17)     Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

18)    Restart the computer.

Check the functionality of the touchpad after following the above steps.

Please post the results. Would be glad to assist you further.

Re: 14z- N411z Multiple failures

Hi rrleon1,

As you have told that situation got worse, let us roll back the drivers for the touchpad to set it to earlier state. The driver has worked a lot of times, thanks for this observation. I will research more on this and get back to you with resolution

Follow the below instructions to roll back the drivers:

1)       Click “Start”, type “Device Manager” and press enter.

2)       In the “Device Manager” window, double click “Mouse and other pointing devices”.

3)       Right click "Dell Touchpad", select “ Properties” from the list and the screen looks as follows :

4)       Select “Roll Back Driver” option and select “OK” after it is done.

5)       Restart the computer to save changes.

6)       Check the functionality of touchpad

Reply for further help.

Thanks & Regards,
