1600x900 LCD to 1920x1080 3D LCD Upgrade-able?

Hello,

I have the Inspiron 17R-SE 7720, and it came with the cheaper 1600x900 lcd. I am completely in love with this laptop, but I bought it from best buy online, and they didn't have the 3D LCD version when I ordered and this cheap screen I have is driving me nutts!! LOL anyway from the research I've done, I believe I have the right 40-pin connector for the 3D lcd, but I know that I will need not only the new LCD(3D), but also the Trim Bezel for around the LCD with the IR emitter and possibly a wire to connect it to the motherboard unless that wire is there(I hope). I've also read that the computers that come with the 3D don't have optimus and I believe I do, but I've read that it can be disabled if need be? Any info anyone might have on this would be great!

Thanks in advance!

-Chris

Hi cdurkinz,

You will not be able to upgrade the normal LCD to 3D LCD on Inspiron 17R-SE 7720 as to make the 3D LCD work you will need NVidia 3D compatible system board and LCD bezel which specially comes with IR emitter.

Yes, the 3D Inspiron 17R-SE 7720 does not come with NVidia Optimus technology as the 3D operation needs the NVidia video card all the time.
