A question on Hibernation and Sleep modes

Can frequent use of hibernation and sleep cause troubles to the system or battery of a laptop?

Thank you

Hey Sanjukta,

Thanks for your post! Sleep uses an extremely low amount of power to sustain your systems basic functions when not in use. This is designed to help aid battery longevity and prevent excessive power drain while the systems is in sleep. If the battery does get close to depleting the system should automatically take advantage of the hibernate state on Windows 7 and 8. A great article was written on Microsoft TechNet blog regarding these features and may help explain in more detail https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2009.gr.sustainablecomputing.aspx

If you’re having problems with your system entering / resuming from sleep or hibernate please see our troubleshooting guide http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN122264/EN
