ATTENTION ALL DELL MODS/ADMINS

Hi,

I just now discovered why my Thunderbolt 3 Firmware on my XPS 9550 never wants to update! You have a problem with the updates you keep putting up for it:

So one says "last updated" 02.16.2016, the other says 04.28.2016 and yet both versions are "2.11.06", both are the exact same file name and the exact same size.

Every time I download the Thunderbolt 3 firmware no matter what version it is, or when it was released, it always tells me mine is already up to date. This is why.

Maybe you should make the RIGHT version downloadable.

Here is Dell, REPEATEDLY FAILING HARD. This is a snapshot from my downloads folder of my XPS 9550 laptop:

Every single file on there is downloaded from the Dell website, not anywhere else. You can see the modified date on the first file "04-20-2016" 502kb. Then again "04-26-2016 502kb" and the next day "04-27-2016 502kb". The only reason I keep redownloading them is because I continue to see "updates". Except for small changes on the first file, you can see where every single file is the exact same name:

"Intel_TBT3_FW_UPDATE_NBM15_A02_02.11.06.exe" No changes to name, no new version, it's the exact same name.

For a multi-billion dollar company, this is absolutely appalling. Dell's execs are literally laughing their way to the bank with our hard earned cash while they sit here and tell us they are doing "updates". Of COURSE they aren't doing any updates. They're just playing us for fools

You have to be careful with the dates on these updates. New code is reflected in the "release date". Updates to things like description and installation instructions is reflected in the "updated" date. Same release date equals same code.

Except that's not what the dell techs told me. At all.
