Accessing F8 at Start Up to access Start Up repair options

Believe it or not I cannot do this. If I press F8 or FN + F8 nothing happens but Windows 7 just boots normally. how do i access  the start up menu which lists all the repair options ?

Press F8 a few times well before Windows starts to load.

Hi - I was experiencing this also, but finally figured out what I was doing wrong. (So, you may not be doing the same thing..)

I was using the F8 key on my wireless keyboard. You have to use the F8 key on the laptop keyboard.
