Any new developments on L502x hard lock?

Are there any workarounds for this? I assume my GPU is fried.

The issue is overheating. Could be cat hair or dust bunnies in the fans and heatsink.

Is there a workaround? Like bag of frozen peas under the laptop or something? lol
Or should I just leave it since it is being recorded?
This was one of the rare instances where it was recorded normally I'd have to restart the computer. because it's a full lock up audio and video.

Alright, thanks I cleaned it awhile ago - the heatsink was black, don't know if it's supposed to be like that or not. I will work to keep it cool. Thanks!

It's might also be a driver / software issue
Driver conflict - GPU, Audio etc
Corrupt Registry
Corrupt System Files - run System File Checker
Try different Video drivers
Does it happen in Safe Mode (F8)

Description
A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.
main issue is a Kernel-Power error.
frequent freezes when "gaming" = GPU overheating.
BCCode 117 this is a TDR Crash
The difference between 116 (VIDEO_TDR_ERROR)
and 117 (VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED), is:
0x116 = video driver is unable to recover; system BSOD
0x117 = indicates that the display driver failed to respond in a timely fashion.
However, video driver ultimately does recover; records a "Live Kernel Event"

Kept a hardware monitor open and ran my usual game. GPU only reached 74*C before it stopped responding, and CPU only hit 85*C BIOS issue?

Intel® HD Graphics 3000 is part of the Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Processor
ark.intel.com/.../52224
The HD 3000 is the integrated piece. The GT525 is a discrete NVIDIA GPU.
The Geforce108 core of the GT 525M is related to the Geforce100 core found in the GeForce GTX 480M and offers 96 shaders and a 128 Bit memory bus for Dedicated DDR3 VRAM.

So there's no Intel HD3000 in there?

It uses the HD3000 display adapter.

Yes...which is the integrated graphics! The Nvidia chip is a seperate chip soldered onto the mainboard. Suggest you read your manual again. Install the latest drivers for both the Intel HD3000 and Nvidia GPU

Fairly Sure the XPS L502x comes with a 2.3GHz Core i5-2410M CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GT525 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB, 7,200rpm hard drive.

Integrated?
Don't you run a separate (discrete) Nvidia chip?

System file check was ran, no violations were found. it's an integrated gpu so I'm not sure how I would run different video drivers. and I have nothing that runs offline to check it in safe mode.

Okay so if I just go to the device manager and disable the 525m it will just run off the intel graphics 3000 (which i notice clocks higher anyway) and it should work?
