Audio problem. No sound.

Dell Inspiron 15 3520

Windows 8

Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio.

The problem started two weeks ago. Sometimes the sound would not respond from just turning on the laptop. Sometimes closing the lid or entering sleep makes the sound go off. I suspect a windows update from starting all this...

Reinstalling the drivers didn't work. 

I tried to do a system restore, it finished way too fast as expected it did not complete. Error code: 0x81000204. The issue persisted when attempting other points.

Other things I have done:

Updating the BIOS. 

For the moment been disabling and enabling the sound card to get sound. 

I am slightly worried about not being able to complete a system restore.
