Backlit Key Board for Insprion 15R SE

Hey all,

I have just ordered a new Insprion 15R SE from the Dell online store. Due for
delivery Tuesday :emotion-2:

I got a good deal so decided to purchase. One of my "wants" was a
backlit keyboard, and on the Dell UK website it’s noted as an optional extra.

I opted for the i7 version, which, to my disbelief, is not available with the
keyboard upgrade! Only on the i5 version... I spoke with a Dell representative
who said it just wasn’t available for that version. Very strange...

Anyway, I am very confident that this can be upgraded once I receive the laptop. Does
anyone:

A) know the part number(s)

B) where to buy it? (not listed on Dell parts website).

C) have a suitable installation guide?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Andrew

you have this option: 09MN92.

for you know if your laptop has input to backlight, remove the keyboard and check if the motherboard has some like this

Thanks for the quick response.

I assume it does but ill check when I get it through.

Would Dell sell me this part direct or will I have to go to a 3rd party supplier?

Thanks,

Andrew

it's easy to remove the keyboard.

Release the four latches securing the keyboard using a plastic scribe. (1. esc 2 among F5 and F6 3 F11 4 Delete)

Slide the keyboard up and turn it over.

Open the keyboard cable securing clip and disconnect the keyboard cable

Note: When re-connecting the cable, ensure that the stripes are facing upward.

I will find a guide explaining it and I will post here

Edit: link of guide to remove the keyboard

Someone must be able to help with this...?

Dell, can you assist? at least by providing the correct part number...

Tried a few third party part suppliers but no luck...

Cheers,

Andrew
