Hi booleanlogic,

Both Inspiron 15z and 15R are configured with 6 cell and 9 Cell batteries. Many factors affect the amount of time that a portable computer battery can deliver power before it must be recharged. These factors include the configuration (processor, memory, Video card etc.), types of applications being run and display brightness.Dell uses industry standard benchmarks for battery run time claims. You can further read the battery FAQ’s from the link below.

It'll depend on which model of 15R -- there are quite a number of them.  What model (four digits -- 5520, etc.) are you asking about?

The 15z has a non-removeable battery (like most ultrabooks);  the 15R has a removeable battery.

I see that 15z comes with a 44 whr battery and 15R comes with a 66whr battery. So assuming similar configuration (8GB, i5), and similar usage -- 15R should give a better performance right?

If the systems are equipped with the same CPU, same screen, and drive type (SSD or HD) - in other words, all else equal, yes.

If the 15R uses and older CPU, a hard drive instead of an SSD, etc., then the 15z could easily beat it despite the lower capacity battery.
