Battery problem
My battery will not charge past 7%. Yet according to all diagnostics and the Dell battery health meter, it is working perfectly. I have tried taking it out and replacing it, plugging the laptop into another outlet and lots of other suggestions I have read, but none of them have made any difference at all. The status remains "7% available, plugged in and charging". It will not go beyond that. I would be very grateful for any help and suggestions.

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter, or is it showing "unknown"? F2 at powerup to check.
What model system is it?

Yes it does correctly identify the adapter at startup. The model is Inspiron N5110. The battery does not have the LED lights on it, but the diagnostic says the battery is fine. However, even though it says it is 7% and charging, it shuts down immediately the power cord is removed.

First thing to try is a new battery - particularly if this one is original to the system (meaning it's well beyond its expected lifespan).
If that doesn't solve the problem, it leaves the mainboard as the faulty part.

Thanks. My first thought was a new battery, but as the diagnostic told me the battery was ok, I thought it might be something different.
