Beeping Noise
This is the first time since getting my laptop in 2006 that I've been getting a beeping noise about every 5 minutes. This is cause for concern? Thanks.

This is the first time since getting my laptop in 2006 that I've been getting a beeping noise about every 5 minutes. This is cause for concern? Thanks.

Hello. I'm sorry but I do not know the answer to that. I have never heard of beeping being a warning, except when booting up during the POST tests. To turn off beeping in most models
1. Open “Control Panel\System\Hardware Tab\Device Manager”.
2. At the top click “View\Show hidden devices” then go to “Non-Plug and Play Drivers” and double click “Beep”.
3. Now click the “Driver Tab” and finally change “Startup Type” to “Disabled”.
4. Restart.

Thanks for taking the time to address my concern, Jim. The beep had stopped sometime during the night and I think it had nothing to do with my laptop and may have been an issue with something else. Sorry!
