Beeping sound on Dell Inspiron N5110 Windows 7 home premium Service Pack 1

Hello,

I'm having a problem with a beeping sound that starts whenever I turn on the computer. Once the window asking for the password to enter windows appears, the sound gets really really low, but it is still audible. When using headphones, you can still hear it coming out of them.

What can I do to repair it?

Thanks.

Dario

Check for a stuck key on the keyboard.

Hi Dario,

Please follow as suggested by ejn63. I also would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

Thank you Ravi,

You know, the beeping is actually in series of 5, then around 3 seconds, and then 5 again and so on.

I'll give it a try with the video and if it doesn't work I'll let you know.

Cheers,

Dario

Hi Dario,

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.

1. Switch off the computer.

2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.

3. Remove the battery from the computer.

4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats.

5 Beeps on Dell Inspiron N5110 inducates Real Time Clock (RTC) power fail you may have to replace the CMOS battery on the system. Please check if the system date is getting reset everytime when you start the system. Contact a computer technician for replacing the battery.
