Does sound like a bad driver, or might be some kind of odd thing with the network card and how it is working with one of windows service packs. I would google the problem and see if anyone else has had the same problem with that laptop. Worse come to worse, you can get a usb-nic card for about 6 dollars (us) on ebay, or you could install a mini-pci wifi card and go wireless if you have a wireless router.

Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried again uninstalling and re-installing the network driver. No luck, but I bought the USB-nic interface you suggested and everthing seems to be working fine. Sounds like a bad nic interface in my PC. Thanks again for your help.
