Brand New Dell Inspiron Running Slow

I just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3521. It was running fine when I started it but now it is running very slow and freezing after installing a Windows update that was needed.

I have tried to run a PC checkup but it has failed to start every time. I also tried running a Dell PC Diagnostics on Dell's support website but that won't start either. I can't find out what the exact problem is.

I'm tempted to reboot the system but I'm worried I am going to lose Microsoft Office. Will I be able to download it again and use the same software key?

Please help!

You could always undo the Windows update, but I suspect it isn't the update causing your problem.

Hi mrockers,

May I know the Operating system installed on the computer?

You may try a system restore. Refer the following link which has steps( WINDOWS 8):

Let me know how it goes.

I am running Windows 8 64bit on my computer.

I have restored the system on my computer to when it was first turned on.

I ran a PC speed check from Dell support website and it found many threats. Not sure if I trust this 3rd party diagnosis and pay for the service to remove toe threats......

Hi mrockers,

This can be an issue with the Virus. Check the status of computer works in Safemode with networking.

I would also recommend to backup data on the computer.

Refer the following link to boot into Safemode with networking:

Let me know the status in Safemode with networking.
