Brand new XPS 13 laptop does not have Windows installed

I just received a new XPS 13 laptop and was dismayed to find that it failed to boot properly, giving the error "No boot device". The automatic Dell diagnostic tests did not find any problems.

Fortunately I had a bootable Ubuntu stick handy, but when I booted into Ubuntu and began the Ubuntu installation process, it told me that no operating system was detected on the computer. I re-checked my order and it was supposed to come with Windows 10 installed. Regardless of whether I can install Ubuntu, I would like Windows to be on it as well. Is there anything I can do short of returning the laptop?

Was this a Dell purchase, or from a third party?

I was able to fix the problem by going into the BIOS settings and changing the boot from Legacy to UEFI. It was a Dell purchase - strange that they didn't configure it to boot correctly in the first place.
