Broke my screen

Well not sure how I did it, but when I closed my laptop a couple nights ago, I broke my screen. Too bad, I loved that laptop. My son says the wire from the mouse was probably still in there and I shut it on top of the wire. It is relatively new, I bought it in late November. Is something like that covered at all by the basic protection plan? If it isn't how much would it cost to get the screen repaired? Am I just better off getting a new laptop?

Thanks in advance for any replies I get.

You would've needed the accident coverage, if offered at the time you bought.

Isn't too difficult to replace yourself if you have any mechanical skill. Probably about $100 on up for LCD panel alone, not bezel (frame). A quick search and I found amazon.com has 15.4" for Inspiron 15** series at $99. You would want to find the right size/type for your particular notebook, of course.

Online docs from DELL has a service guide showing replacement instructions (via Support link).
