Broken hinge? Metal bracket and cord of some sort (sell Inspiron)
Sorry I don't know that Much about computer hardware but on my dell Inspiron laptop when I was opening (or closing cost remember) the screen the metal bracketgot yanked out of place and a cord next to it (that comes from the display) got unplugged is their anyway I can screw back in the bracket and where do I plug in the cord. Thanks so much I really don't want to bring this to a repair shop and I'm out of the warranty.

You have not mentioned the model#.
I would strongly advise you to take the system to a local tech and get the system repaired as I suppose you have not opened this machine anytime before. However, if you insist on doing it yourself, considering the system is out of warranty, then go the support site - http://dell.to/1Pwntme - download the service manual for the system - to check on how to open the machine and where to connect the LCD cable.
