Does the system temperature rise only while playing games or while using other applications as well?

Note: Before updating BIOS please ensure that
Battery is 10%> charged
Battery charger should be connected
No external devices (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) should be connected.
All other programs should be closed and documents saved.
Also, try cleaning the air vents of the system by performing these steps:

I did update BIOS. Vents are ok. (i dont think there is change).
I use Windows 7, the temp goes up when i play Civilization 5 (didnt check in other games). When system is idle its 50c.
Can temperature be so high or will it damage laptopn.
The temperature increasing to 90-95C is not normal and may damage the parts.
