CPU speed
I own a latitude CPxJ 650..
the cpu clockspeed reads 500 Mhz but it should be able to operate at 650 Mhz..
I've tried using intel speedstep to set to maximum speed at all time.. but this doesn't seem to work..
I've also tried changing the enery configuration from portable to home/office or always on.. but this doesn't work either..
does anyone know how to maximize the cpu's performance??..
grtz..

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If you go into the system bios, in the lower right hand corner it will give you the
processor speed. "Mobile Pentium III XXXX\XXXX mhz. "
While you are in the bios, look at the 4th page and find the setting for "Intel Speed Step". Set it to Maximum and it should allow you to use the processor at full speed.

I already did try that.. set it to maximum but it doesn't change a thing..
I tried different energy settings too but that doesn't work either..

Ok, how do you know your processor is running at 500Mhz and not 650Mhz?
What are you using to measure the processor speed?
What operating system are you using?
What bios version do you have?
