Can I change out dedicated video cards?

Howdy! My laptop is a M4500 Precision Mobile Workstation, 2nd gen dual i7, Nvidia Quadro Fx 880m 'n 8 Gigs of RAM, operating on a 64bit Windows 10. My question is this: Can I change out my Nvidia Quadro Fx 880m for something more powerful, being that its a dedicated card and not integrated?

There is a Quadro 1800 card for that system you can use -- if you can find one.  It was likely an expensive option when the system was new, so the supply may not be vast (meaning the price will likely be high).

Yes, the card can be replaced.

But there's no way I can change it out for anything else? Would that be because of size requirements or hardware requirements? If its because of size requirements, then cant I just take a cable and run it external of the laptop to insert into the new card?

I'd build a new desktop to get rid of the compatibility problem, but as that's not an option atm, I want to upgrade my current system in any way I can

That's the only sure thing.  Anything else is a gamble - it may or may not work.
