Can I play HD movie files with an Nvidia GEforce 8400M GS ?

Hi, everyone. I am new to this forum. I have a question regarding my graphics card and would like to know if anyone can help me. I have a Vostro 1700 and do not have an HD DVD player however, I have a few movie files in HD that I would like to view. Do my Nvidia GEforce 8400M GS has a driver update, compatible with my system that will allow me to view them? Please advise...

The graphics card should be able to play the video whatever the current Nvidia driver you have, the problem may lie with what you are trying to play them with, you might need codecs to play them, if you search on google k-lite codec pack and download and install that will give you a good base to start, or download the vlc player that plays pretty much everything.

If this doesn't work you can always check HD playback by going to themovies.com which is apple's trailer site and view the HD trailers

Hope this helps
