Hi,

I have old version A05 on my E6410 Bios. I tried to upgrade to A06, then I´d like to upgrade to A07, A09, and then to A13, because i need to have the A09 installed before install A13.

I`ve downloaded all the versions, but the problem is that the Dell BIOS Flash window does not start !!!

I need help please

Well, i follow the folowing steps from this forum (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19413136/19971740.aspx#19971740):

1. Install UNetbootin from synaptic
2. Run it and create a FreeDOS USB key.
3. Copy the exe BIOS update file to the USB key from inside ubuntu.
4. Reboot into BIOS setup and change the boot order to boot from USB
5. Boot into a live freedos session.
* The USB key will offer to install freedos on your hard disk. DONT - that is ubuntucide!
* Don't use himem or or that other memory thingywhatsit - just straight freedos
6. C:
7. dir
8. run the update

And i could install the Bios Upgrade. Now are upgraded to A13.

Aniway something is wrong, because from windows OS, the installer does not start !!!

Hi Babita, thanks for your rappidly repply. The problem is not the download of the versions. I have done the download of the Bios Versons (executable files: E6410A06.exe, E6410A07.exe, E6410A09.exe, E6410A11.exe and E6410A13.exe). The problem is that when i run the executable file, the Dell BIOS Flash window does not start, and nothing happens...

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Please save the file to your desktop, right-click on the saved file, then click on 'Run as administrator'. You should be able to update the BIOS.

In case you still face issues, please let me know if you see any error message when you click to run the executable file.

Thanks and regards,
Babita S

Brilliant! We've been dealing with this BIOS nonsense for some time and simply avoided updating since we weren't having any issues. Now, with the issues of sleep mode not working, we wanted to do a BIOS update and decided to deal with this issue.

This solution worked perfectly! We used Rufus instead (http://rufus.akeo.ie/), as it's a one-click FreeDOS creation. But same thing. Made the USB bootable, copied the BIOS files, then did the A09 flash (the one from 6-2-2011, not the one from 4-24-2012 seen here - ftp://ftp.dell.com/Browse_For_Drivers/Laptops/Latitude/Latitude%20E6410/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS/) from the FreeDOS. After that, A13 worked great from Windows. Thanks!!
