Can't disable touchpad

Is it possible to disable the mouse touch pad on the new 17R when you have a real mouse plugged in?  I had last year's Studio 17 and couldn't figure it out on that machine.  Am I missing something?  I won't buy a 17R unless it can be done.  Thanks.
