Hello, first thing that you need to know is the dimension of your original hard drive.

I bought a new one hard drive for my dell 14z 5423. In all documentation about that notebook I found nothing about that notebook have a hard drive with a different dimension. When I tried to put my new one hard drive, SURPRISE, the hard disk fitted perfectly but the cover of that new one is just a little bit more higher and because of that when I tried to close the parts of my notebook the cover did not close in the reason of that difference of the height. =(

Now I am trying to find a way to put new hard drive without that cover, trying to put a new one. I really dont want to use this new product on a usb hard drive  adapter and still using my old one inside my notebook.

The XPS L series will take 9.5 mm drives - which is what the original poster asked about, so there's no problem.

The newer, slimmer systems such as the 5423 will take only 7 mm or slimmer drives - there's no way to mount a 9.5 mm drive inside.  Some even slimmer models take the newer 5 mm format (for which the SATA connector is additionally different than it is for a standard hard drive).

hey my friend, that information that you just told I did not found in any documentation of that notebook. Where you saw that information ?

I notice the problem is the cover of the new hard drive I will try to work on that... do you think that is possible ?

Thanks
