D1000 dock draining batteries on wireless devices

We recently purchased a two-in-one tablet and the D1000 docking station. The user had the wireless keyboard in the docking station, and the wireless mouse in the tablet directly. The wireless keyboard began needing new batteries every two days. We swapped the mouse and keyboard, and now the mouse needs batteries every two days, and the keyboard is fine. Is there something that can be done to stop the D1000 docking station from draining the batteries on these wireless devices in a short period of time?
