D3100 HDMI or DisplayPort conversion to DVI Dual Link?

Hi, I just brought a Dell USB 3.0 Ultra HD Triple Video Docking Station D3100 p/n 452-BBOO / 4N2PF and connected it up to XPS 13 and all works fine/first time except the HDMI/DVI converter which came with it.  I am only using one screen but I guess the HDMI/DVI conversion is only to single link as 2048x1152 is the max resolution I can see.

First question - does this make sense of have I missed something?

Second question - is there a way to get the D3100 DisplayPort or HDMI to send Dual Link to my DVI screen sharing set up at 2560x1440?

Thanks in advance, Peter

Note if I directly connect dock HDMI to Screen HDMI I can see 2560x1440 @ 60Hz but I am using a KVM switch to share the screen between a few other PCs too so I don't want to do this as a permanent set up!

PeterWBaker,

Click the links below for information about the Dell D3100.

The manual provides configuration information for the D3100

I have already read the manual:-) and should have said in my original post!

The Manual says it does support 2560x1440 (which is true when HDMI directly connected) but it also came with an HDMI to DVI adapter in the box so I would assume that should work too, but it does not hence the question.

Any further suggestion or technical knowledge please?

Peter

PeterWBaker,

Per the chart a single external monitor using #1 HDMI must be set to 50Hz to get 2560x1440. Did you change the Hz from 60 to 50 within Windows? We cannot speak to the KVM. As the picture shows, we validated Laptop to Dock to Monitor.

Hi, I could not see a way to change the refresh rate under desktop settings.  Having dug further into this the only way I could get it to work at 2560x1440 (through DVI that I need) was to buy a Dell BizLink DisplayPort to DVI-D dual link USB powered adapter which while it was another £80 does work...  Thanks for following this thread and making suggestions. Peter
