Some details would help, like why you think it is overheating... burned hand, plastic parts melting? Shuts down?
Also, try running the test for cooling fans in Dell diagnostics - should be on your resource CD, or read the manual for how to access if already installed.
Overheat / shutdown... also listen for the cooling fan, and make sure airflow through the vents is not obstructed. The air blowing out should feel pretty warm, maybe even hot if its really overheating (not hallucinating from sensor error).
Your final stage having found the diagnostics info will probably be a call to Dell tech support in your region... hopefully under warranty.
