DELL Inspiron 9400 Upgrade

I would like to upgrade my Inspiron 9400 from Windows XP to Windows 7.

Is it possible?

What do I need to do to the hardware?

If you have XP home or XP pro the upgrade requires VISTA HOME or VISTA Business as an intermediate upgrade.

Then you must add VISTA SP1 and reboot. Then VISTA SP2 and REBOOT.

After that an Upgrade to WIN7 or WIN8 will be possible.

Yes, it'll run just fine - 32-bit better than 64.

Wow...

Can 2G manage W7?

I have installed Win 8 on a 9400 (E1705) as an upgrade from Win 7 (initially Vista). The machine works OK, but is a little slow (always was). Will soon do a clean re-install. From XP, you will need to do a clean install; upgrade is not possible.

Thanks,

I need to install W7.

I think RAM needs to increase... What is the largest memory Inspiron 9400 can handle?
