DELL STUDIO 1555 - Black Screen
I have a problem with my dell studio 1555.
Once I press the start button I can hear the booting process (fan + dvdrom), but the screen remains black all the time.
I have performed these tests:
1. Connect to an external monitor through the HDMI -> nothing
2. Remove RAM modules, checked with other, leaving one slot empty and then the other slot -> nothing
3. Diagnostic: Start button + D -> I see flashing colors on the screen for a while, then it returns to black.
4. Remove Battery, the AC power and BIOS batery + Press start button 30 seconds to remove all electricity from the PC -> then I start again the PC and the screen again black.
Any ideas?
Could it be a motherboard or GPU video problem?
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
Appreciate for the troubleshooting that you tried already.
Looking at the symptoms and the outcome of troubleshooting, the issues looks to be with the motherboard.
keeping in mind LCD test flashed the colors , the screen is fine.
Do you see the Dell Splash screen on boot up? or is it totally blank?
Does the caps/num lock respond when you toggle ?

Thanks for your help.
Screen is always totally blank, except when I perfom the diagnostic.
I will check the CAPS/NUM key, and I´ll let you know.

I have just checked if I see any lights while pressing CAPS/NUM keys, but there are no lights, and there have never been.
The screen remains totally black, I just can see the colors of diagnostic on it.
Any other check to perform?
Are you sure that the motherboard is broken?
