DELL Studio 17 (1737) Media Direct button seems to be stuck on

Hi Folks,

Got a Studio 1737 running Win 7 Home Premium.

Has been running OK for ages, no problems, except occasionally, without me touching anything, the "Media Direct" Screen would appear.

This has been happening more frequently recently, then yesterday it seems to be permanent. It alsao occasionally hangs at the end of loading the BIOS instead of loading Windows. (Don't know if this is connected.)

What happens is this:

When I boot, the BIOS loads and the Windows loads, all the little lights along the top of the keyboard flash as usual, but the Media Direct light stays on.

When I get into Windows, the Media Direct screen appears and I close it down, after a few seconds it appears again and I close it down but after a few seconds....etc....etc

The mouse pointer also keeps flickering all the time and the little whirly thingy (you know the one that shows the pc is busy) keeps on appearing as well.

Any ideas, or do you agree it's the button, and if so is it home repairable or is it a workshop job.
