I had just bought a brand new dell precision m4800 laptop with the following specifications:
Well the problem is that I keep running into random freezes/hangs for a short span of time while doing any process on this machine. This is severely interfering with my productivity and workflow.
Looking forward for all the support that I can get.
Thanks for the post! Sounds like you could be experiencing the IRST/Management issues outlined in this article:
I’d suggest running through the troubleshooting outlined in the above article first but if the problem persists, check out the more comprehensive troubleshooting options here: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN265689/EN
Hi sorry for the late reply,
I have tried all the given suggestions in order to eliminate the random 5 second freezes but it has not cured the problem
Sorry to hear that troubleshooting had no effect. Have you already updated your systems BIOS and drivers to the latest available on the support site? If not I would suggest running the Dell Command Update utility to automatically install any relevant updates available for your system. You can download this software from the Dell Drivers & Downloads website.
Should the problem continue after this, make sure to run the systems pre OS hardware diagnostics, a possible hardware fault could cause issues like what you’re describing and these diagnostics should detect that and the support teams in your region should be able to assist in ordering replacement parts.
You could also test uninstalling the Intel Rapid Storage Driver and allowing windows to manage the storage controller to see if this prevents the lock ups.
Keep us posted!
There is a great Wiki on the Microsoft community site that provides instructions on that. Link below.
