Dell 1555 does not boot
Hi all,
My Dell 1555 does not boot. I tried to release the static to no avail. When the power button is pressed, the fan comes on and the keyboard lights up, but nothing further. The screen stays off and no other sounds (beeps or otherwise) come from the laptop. I plugged an external monitor into the left side of the laptop and powered it on, and still no display.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Remove the battery - if it'll start up then, the battery is faulty. If it still won't complete POST, make sure nothing is connected by USB and check the USB ports for bent pins (they can cause a short and a no-POST). If nothing turns up, replace the mainboard.
