Just bought Dell 17 3737 laptop, and appears issue with keyboard.  Can't find how to get number lock to work for keyboard number pad, and keyboard  does not backlight when I press Fn + F6 as per quick start guide.  Any idea's?

Hi Colin_Holden,

You can find the Num Lock key towards the right hand corner of the screen above the Num key '7'.

Fn+F6 is the right function to turn on the keyboard backlight. However if it is not working please try to update the Quickset drivers from the link mentioned below and it should resolve your issue.

(Note:Press < Fn >< F6 > once to turn on the keyboard back light. Press < Fn >< F6 > second time to decrease the brightness of the keyboard back light and pressing < Fn >< F6 > for the third time turns off the keyboard back light.)

Should You have any concerns please revert back and would be glad to help You.

Hi, old laptop had a visible keyboard light when Number lock engaged, this one does not, so I was unaware when number lock engaged or not.

However I have downloaded Quickset and installed, but no difference at all - Keyboard/keys do not illuminate.  Even at 5pm today, I still have to have lamp on to see keyboard.  Any other idea's to try?  Does it need switching on in BIOS or something?

Cheers

Hi Colin,

Update the BIOS drivers from the following link and then update the quickset drivers and check if the keyboard backlight is working and the num lock function should work after the update

BIOS Update http://dell.to/TEOWcg

Update the Quickset drivers for your computer based on the Operating system

Windows 8 (QuickSet Driver) http://dell.to/TQVzZo

Windows 8.1 (Quickset Driver) http://dell.to/1rSZeBI

Make sure the battery is fully charged before the drivers are installed or you can also keep the laptop plugged in while installing the drivers and also restart the computer after each update.

Should you have any other questions, feel free to revert back and I would be glad to assist you
