Dell 5558 nVidia detect problem

Hello everyone!

1. I installed all drivers via service tag on dell support.

I know that my laptop should have nvidia GPU, but windows 10 x64 can't detect it. See screenshot bellow - why ???

How do you know it "should have" the nVidia GPU?  If you don't see an entry in the device manager for the nVidia GPU, your system is almost certainly Intel-only.

Purchase price is one guide - the Intel only versions sold for $500-900 or so.  The ones over about $900 had hybrid video.  You can also use the service tag number to look up the exact specifications for your system at support.dell.com (or the Dell support site in the country where you purchased the system).

The question is, exactly what is this a screenshot of?

That looks like the options screen from Dell.  I have a 5558 and I only have the Intel HD card.  Check your receipt/configuration it should have the options you purchased.

Hi AVEKIR,

http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and check the original system configuration.

If not, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and Name, so I could confirm the system configuration for you.

Hi AVEKIR,

Thank you for the update.

Well, I have verified the service tag and indeed the system was shipped with Discrete video Nvidia graphics.

Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/2eq1W5s - restart the system and press f2 on startup to enter BIOS. Check if the switchable graphics is enable or disabled in BIOS.

Restart the system and check in device manager if the video card is then detected or not. If detected, then you could install the Intel video driver first - restart the system and then install the nvidia driver from the vendor site - http://bit.ly/2dqhOm4

If it still does not show up, then I would suspect a motherboard issue - since there is no warranty, you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
