Dell D620 refuses to charge

Hello. I bought a 12 cell battery off of ebay and it works perfect, i ran it for a few hours off of the battery and when i went to charge it, it will NOT take a charge. It says its charging, but i left it plugged in overnight and it was still at 5% the next day. What do i do?

Hi Ben Poseno,

The Latitude D620 supports only 4, 6 and 9 cell battery. The 12 cell battery is not compatible hence it’s not charging.

Ok. i have sent the 12 cell back and got a 9 cell and the same thing occurs. When i got the new 9 cell it had a charge, so i ran it off the battery, then i plugged it in to charge and the battery status light went on green for 30 seconds and turned off. So it DOES NOT charge at all. Ive looked around and people say i need a new motherboard because the charging circuit on the motherboard is bad. Is that what i need to do?

Does the system identify the AC adapter correctly or is it listed as "unknown"?

F2 at power up to check.
