Dell D630 Latitude Laptop

I have the above laptop ( Dell D630 Latitude),but estions or ideas would be helpfulit has no power at all,no even with the battery.I have plugged in the AC adaptor and all that happens is the on light stays on for 2 seconds and then switches off.I can here no noise ( hard drive or cd-rom) and I think it maybe to do with the internal power source.Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful.I have tried the Dell website ,but its too complicated for me.Thanks

Plug the adapter into the wall (not the system).  Be sure the LED on the adapter comes on and stays on.  If it doesn't, the adapter is bad;  you'll need a new one.

Remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds.  Remove and reinsert both memory modules.

Plug the AC adapter in and try powering up.  If it will, then try with the battery.  If it'll power up without but not with the battery, the battery is bad;  replace it.

If the system still won't power up, replace the mainboard.
