Dell E6530 - blue screen / no diagnostics working / no bios updating / no seatools working
1) I get since some months blue screens like this:
stop 0x0000007A
stop 0x000000F4
etc. When letting the computer idle for a while (and seldom also when working on it). This is not really something that I expect from a Dell for which I payed about 1000 euro about two years ago.
I tried to nail the problem down, but there is no hope. After some hints, it could be a problem of the harddisc. It is a seagate ST9500423AS.
2) So I tried to use, as recommended, the SeaTools for checking it (normal dskchk does not find anything, similarily any other ms- windows tool for disk checking). Seatools do not work if starting it from a CD-rom (boot) nor if starting from a USB-stick (boot). I tried several recommended solutions (changing the bios for the HD from Raid or AHCI to ATA, making different boot sticks or CD-s, etc.)
3) I also updated all the drivers from dell. They worked, except of the bios, which does not update, no matter how I try to do it (with boot disk or from windows). This is really a shame, noone knows why (not even here at Dell support!)
4) I then tried the dell diagnostics (in the boot menu), but also they do NOT work. Also, nobody knows why.
i am pretty disappointed of Dell and the fact that there are no solutions to be found for problems that were mentioned by other forum users already.
My former laptop, a D820 worked for seven years, this one has problems already after two years.
Can anybody here answer my problems above, no. 1-4? thanks in advance!

Hi,
Can you share the complete BSOD message?
Without more information, I can tell you to try http://www.memtest.org/
to see if theres an issue with your RAM. Let it run for a few hours.
Do you get an error message when you try to update your bios?

dear Ben, thank you!
the bsod message varies, here are two of them:
(note: a minidump is never created, the crash dump fails, eg. 0xC0000010)
one case:
stop 0x0000007A
(0x0000000000000020,
0xFFFFFFFFC000009D,
0xFFFFFA8006F30078,
0x0000000000000000)
crash dump failed 0xC000009C
another case:
stop 0x000000F4
(0x0000000000000003,
0xFFFFFA80082B4B30,
0xFFFFFA80082B4E10,
0xFFFFF80004189270)
crash dump failed 0xC0000010
RAM:
I tested several hours the RAM with exactly the software you indicated, already, and no errors encountered. I have two ram modules (4GB Dell preinstalled and 8 GB Kingston). I took the Kingston out, presuming it could be incompatible or whatever. Did not bring anything.
bios update:
no error at all. everything works as if (but at restart nothing special is to be seen on the start screen), and then, if I check the bios version, it is still the same.
dell diagnostic tools (via boot menu) :
stops while showing a black screen with an error message: unable to locate a graphics protocol. PSA cannot be used".

It seems that noone from DELL is interested in this dramatic story of a new product (bought 2013) of their company, and that noone of the forum users has experienced similar problems.
