Dell Inspiron 15 Touchpad & Battery Issues

I purchased the Inspiron 15 3521 model two weeks ago.

Touchpad:
The touchpad has started freezing randomly. I have checked for driver updates and it shows 'Up-to-date'. Please help

Battery:
Initially, on a 100% charge, the laptop worked properly for 8 hours straight playing music and certain light software.
This has dropped to 5 hours in 2 weeks.
What could be the reason?

PS: A newbie. Would really appreciate a simplified answer. Thanks

Hi vaibhav.s144,

You may uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers. Please follow the steps below:

  • Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’
  • Click > sign next to ‘Mice and Other pointing Device’
  • Right click the entry listed under  ‘Mice and Other pointing Device’ and click ‘Uninstall’
  • Click ‘Yes’ on the security warning

Remove the ‘Touchpad’ application from ‘Uninstall a Program’. To remove the application:

  • Press ‘Windows’ key + X
  • Click ‘Control Panel’
  • Click ‘Uninstall a Program’
  • Right click on ‘Touchpad’ and click ‘Uninstall’
  • Restart the computer

You may check the battery health in BIOS. Please follow the steps below:

  • At the Dell logo appears, tap until the message Entering Setup appears.
