Dell Inspiron 1521 WIFI issue

I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 running Windows 10.

Yesterday Windows 10 updated and in the process broke my WIFI.

The driver Windows used doesn't work and to uninstall that driver is a real pain.

The error Windows network diagnostics gives is this.

There might be a problem with the driver for the WiFi adapter.

Windows couldn't automatically bind the ip protocol stack to the network adapter.

Any idea how to fix it or is it a bug and do I have to wait for Microsoft to fix it?

Oh also I finally got the driver uninstalled and got an older one installed but it said it was not compatable.

Thank you for your message.

Inspiron 1521 has not been tested for Windows 10 &  there is no official tested drivers available for any OS above Windows Vista.

You can try installing the Vista drivers in compatibility mode & check if that works. If not, you may need to install a previous version of Windows OS.

Now I did run the install program in compatibility mode for Vista SP2 when the drivers did finally install and Windows said they were not compatible.

How do I install the drivers themselves in compatibility mode?
