Dell Inspiron 1525 internal microphone
I have seen many different threads about this same issue, but have not seen anything that has worked for me. I have a Dell inspiron 1525 and recently upgraded to windows 7. Since then all is good except for the fact that the internal microphone doesn't work at all. I have tried to install the sigmatel driver, but it says it doesn't support my operating system, even when I try and install it with compatibility mode. I would love any help on the subject as I am getting very frustrated with it. Thanks.

now that i got one problem fixed there is another problem:( there is a constant beeping sound... when im on a skype call or recording my friend on the other end complains of this beeping sound. I tried skype test call to see what he was talking about , so i recorded my self and on play back i heard that constant beeping he was talking about.... is there anyway solution to this?

i have the same (dell 1525) running on windows 7 .i FINAALLLLY fixed my problem, click on the link an download that driver... it should fix ur prob too

I just solved this issue.
Search DELL site for drivers (tab "Help and Support") by "92HD73C1".
It finds about 30 entries for Alienware laptops, but one entry mentions Inspiron too: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=NWM04
IDT 92HD73C1 Audio Driver
Version
Consider A15, this is BIOS version I presume.
I had A11 so I decided to upgrade to the latest A17 before installing this driver.
Then I installed driver package R226903.exe and my microphone array works well in Win 7 x64 on Inspiron 1525 now.
Just to mention, there is later version of this driver to download: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=G11FC
However the description contains no word about Inspiron, BIOS version is A18 i.e. greater that the latest one available for Inspiron, and when I tested it on A11 BIOS it did not work. I decided to not re-test after I upgraded BIOS to A17 and then installed R226903... never touch a running system, you know.

Kudos to JIMCO and all his guidance here on this subject.
I inherited an old Dell Inspiron 1515 from my daughter running Vista and upgraded to Win 10.
Everything perfect except for the internal microphone which I managed to recovery using JIMCO´s Sigmatel Vista audio driver R218148 suggestion.

Hello sir,
Me too facing the same problem since I've upgraded from xp to windows7 on my inspiron 1525.
I've followed the every suggestion the users gave but that still didn't resolve my problem!
When I am trying to install the above mentioned IDT R261324 (6.10.0.6267, A18) , it asked to me to uninstall the sigma tel audio drivers befrore proceeding to installation! But in my control panel I can nowhere find the Sigma tel drivers, i.e., there are no such kind of drivers installed on my pc!
PLEASE HELP ME TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM!

Delete this registry key if you have it in the Windows Registry:

I have same problem , with my microphone for laptop Dell inspiron 1525 because I recently upgraded to windows 7,and I try the link to the IDT R261324 (6.10.0.6267, A18) , but I can not find file IDT R261324 drive , can you please send my the link or file.
