Dell Inspiron 1545 CPU Upgrade

Hi all

I've just aquired a Dell Inspiron 1545. It's running Windows 7 and has a Pentium Dual Core 2.3Ghz CPU with 4GB RAM.

The RAM is plenty for me but the CPU i think i could improve on... Can anyone tell me the top 3 CPU's for this model?

I can confirm this machine is running the latest A14 BIOS.

Thanks

RE: Dell Inspiron 1545 CPU Upgrade

I own two Dell Inspiron 1545 laptops. They came with a Pentium T4200 and a Pentium T4400 cpu. I upgraded one to an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 and the other to an Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 cpu. The Dell Inspiron 1545 can accept up to an Intel Core 2 Duo T9900. Just make sure to upgrade the laptop bios to version A-14 before upgrading the cpu. Check out YouTube for videos showing how to perform the cpu upgrade.

I have put together a list of possible cpu upgrades for the Dell Inspiron 1545. I  have also included current Ebay buy it now prices for used cpu's. The list shows the cpu model, cpu clock speed, cache size, bus speed and cpu watts.

Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, 3.06-GHz, 6M, 1066-Mhz CPU, 35-watts - $59

Intel Core 2 Duo T9800, 2.93-GHz, 6M, 1066-MHz CPU, 35-watts - $30

Intel Core 2 Duo P9700, 2.80-GHz, 6M, 1066-MHz CPU, 25-watts - $34

Intel Core 2 Duo T9600, 2.80-GHz, 6M, 1066-MHz CPU, 35-watts - $20

Intel Core 2 Duo T9500, 2.60-GHz, 6M,  800-MHz CPU, 35-watts - $40

Intel Core 2 Duo P9500, 2.53-GHz, 6M, 1066-MHz CPU, 25-watts - $20

RE: Dell Inspiron 1545 CPU Upgrade

Hello and good morning.

Be advised that of most importance is the SOCKET number. For example, I had a Pentium M 1.6Ghz that had a 755 socket. I wanted to upgrade as you are but a 2.26Ghz processor had a different socket.

Enter Intel Processors in Wikipedia and there is a list of processors but this was long ago when I did this. It depends if Intel updated the article.

Food for thought.
