Dell Inspiron 5150 has bIOS password on it. How do I erase that and re-install Windows 2000 server?
I have 2 Dell 5150 Inspiron laptops, one that I just bought on ebay. When I log in a screen immediately comes up saying I need to put in a password. I don't even know what OS is on it.
I contacted the worthless dell chat people and they told me they couldn't help me.
What can I do to erase this BIOS password and re-install my own software?
I looked all over google with no results.
Thought I would try here.
Thanks ...

The current registered owner of the system must transfer ownership into your name. Once that's done, call Dell (the call will cost you $60 - it is not free) and they will issue a system-specific master password.
Otherwise, replace the system boards (or return the systems to the seller for a refund).

I do not know the original owner. I bought it on ebay for $50.00 for my nephew to use here at work for me.
