Dell Inspiron 6000

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and have wondering about something. It used to be whenever I would turn the volume up or down, OR change brighness level of the screen, I would get these little display meters, that showed the volume level and brightness level. The volume level just had the little speaker with a meter on it. And the brighness level had a little sun wearing glasses that the glasses would turn darker when you brightened the screen more...........................My question is, HOW DO YOU GET THIS BACK?!?!??!?!

I miss it, I thought it had something to do with dell quickset, but can't find nothing on it.

Can somebody give me a step by step on how to find the settings to get it back? Or at least what it is called?

Thanks for your time guys, and also, do you know of anything to help with the plugin for the AC adaptors on these things? You barely move it, and it falls out. I mean loose as a goose, but was never covered by my warranty..
