Dell Latitude E4300 graphics card/chip (?) problem
Hello,
Can anyone advise what might be wrong with my Dell Latitude E4300 laptop. When I turn it on I get the following screen. The screen shot below is from when windows has finished loading up. When I fist turn it on the bottom half of the screen is like in the image below but the top half is totally black. Windows loads normally going by the usual start up noises, and it can be shut down through the keyboard.
I think it might be a graphics card or chip issue rather than an issue with the screen itself. Would anyone know what might be causing this issue and if/how it could be fixed? Although it's a very old laptop it is still very useful and a good size for travelling with so I would like to rescue it if it can be done economically.
Many thanks
George

Plug an external monitor into the E4300 leftside VGA out port. If you see the windows desktop on the external monitor, then the graphics card/chip is working and the fault lies with the E4300 LCD panel.
