After updating to BIOS A15, the keys to my Dell Latitude E5440 get "stuck" again with Linux. This has been a problem for many frustrating months back when I originally bought it, then solved by a BIOS update eventually, and now back again with A15. A14 worked fine.
Have you tried to force the backflash to A14 bios? If the system does not allow that backflash, then all you can do is wait for a bios after A15 to see if it will address the issue.
I haven't yet, but I did go back to previous versions before and I assume that this will work as well. Actually I have no problem using A14 - except that A15 was marked as an "Urgent" update on the Dell website so I assumed that it's more important to keep A15 with the keys repeating occasionally.
Just because a bios is newer, does not mean I will install it. My usage concerning bios updates, "If it is working, do not fix it.". If you can, I would go back to a working A14.
I did go back to A14. But I think this needs to be said: I found the replies puzzling and condescending. For one, you don't know if "the system does not allow that backflash". It does allow it, and I'd expect an official Dell rep to know this. Second, I don't find it acceptable to have to hold an upgrade to the latest BIOS version for fear of regressions and breakage. Don't test in production. You might win a few bucks with the QA people you get to lay off, but you will lose sales (this will be my last Dell purchase, with all the issues I've had with my last two Dell laptops). And third, I shouldn't be told to "wait for a bios after A15 to see if it will address the issue" - it's not my job to "see if it will address the issue". It's your job to report it to the developers and hopefully come back with an estimate of when it will be fixed. I don't work for Dell.
Was not meaning to sound "condescending". On the Desktop models and Alienware laptops, backflashing is not possible in most cases. So I was not sure about Latitude line. Notice my signature does state, "Liaison for Desktops, Alienware, Monitors". But I was trying to help. I did report it to the Latitude team. I have not received a reply from them.
