Dell Latitude e5500 boot up issue

Okay, first I have to say that I love the laptop and I use it at home and at work.  At work, I have it on a docking station and when I fire up the laptop, it comes on fast and I am at my login screen within a couple of minutes.  However, when I bring it home and fire it up, it takes forever.  I power it up and the screen displays weird graphics for a few minutes before the login screen comes on.  What gives?

Laptop is only 5 months old.
